FAIRFAX, Va. - The women's tennis team fell in their home match against Georgetown on Friday and then traveled to Harrisonburg on Sunday losing to JMU.

On Friday the Patriots hosted Georgetown and fell 0-4.

The Hoyas opened the scoring by winning the doubles point. The highlight for Mason was the No. 3 of Noelle Talarek and Ravaka Ramanantoanina defeated their Georgetown opponents, 6-1. George Mason was close to winning the point as Brooklyn Siegel and Maya Bayat fell in a close match 5-7 at No. 2.

Georgetown secured the win with victories at positions 5, 4 and 3 respectively. Cenan Liu, George Mason's No. 1 player, was leading her opponent and Ravaka Ramanantoanina was about to go into a third set at No. 6 when the match was concluded.

On Sunday the Patriots traveled down I-81 to play James Madison University on Sunday. George Mason fell to the hosts 1-4 on the Dukes' Senior Day.

Similar to Friday, the Patriots lost the doubles point but the team of Talarek and Ramanantoanina continued their winning was with a 6-3 win.

The Dukes went up 2-0 with a win at No. 1 singles but Talarek, playing No. 4 singles, put Mason on the board with a 6-4, 6-4 win. The Patriots then fell further behind when the No. 6 player, Shivaani Ganesh, had to retire at 3-3 in the third set due to an injury. 

JMU secured the match victory when Ramanantoanina fell in her singles match.

"I am very proud of the fight we have shown in these last matches. We are banged up and playing shorthanded but we are still battling with very good teams," commented Coach Steve Curtis. "We still have two more matches before we head to the A10 Championships and we need to get healthy."

The Patriots host Loyola (Md.) on Tueday and then have their Senior Day on Friday when they host A-10 power, Richmond.
