Softball Hosts UMES Wednesday

FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason softball (15–17, 4–8 A-10) is set to host the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (9–23, 1–8 MEAC) at the GMU Softball Complex on Wednesday, April 1. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m., and admission is free for all attendees.

The matchup against UMES will be available to watch on ESPN+ and can also be followed via live stats online.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Hawks are coming off a three-game sweep by conference opponent Morgan State, falling 4–1, 9–1 (6 innings), and 7–2. The Patriots lead the all-time series against UMES with a 5–2 record. The last meeting between the two teams was on February 19, 2023, at a neutral site, where George Mason earned a 10–4 victory.

Lola Meyer leads UMES with a .333 batting average, totaling 26 hits, six doubles, and 13 RBIs. Skylar Skinner provides power to the lineup with a team-high five home runs and a team-best 18 runs scored.

In the circle, the Hawks hold a 5.78 team ERA. Dani Brown leads the pitching staff with a 4.70 ERA across 76.0 innings, adding 40 strikeouts and two saves. Paris Richards provides depth in the bullpen with a 5.54 ERA over 60.2 innings and 19 strikeouts.

LAST TIME OUT
Over the weekend, the Patriots went 1-2 in their Atlantic 10 series against Dayton. George Mason dropped the opening game, 2–0, but bounced back to take game two, 4–3. Dayton secured the series win with a 7-1 victory in the finale.

Across the three games, Elyssa DeRosa led the team with a .375 batting average and a .625 slugging percentage, recording three hits, two doubles, and one RBI. Maddie LeMasters continued her strong freshman campaign, totaling two runs, two RBIs, one double, and her third career home run.
