FAIRFAX, Va. -George Mason freshman starter
Aiden Parker earned his first collegiate win and the Patriots hit two home runs in a 14-4 victory over Longwood in seven innings on Tuesday afternoon at Spuhler Field.
THE LEADOFF
- Senior shortstop Owen Clyne had three hits, four RBI and scored two runs.
- Graduate student center fielder Luciano Teriili had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
- Junior designate hitter Matthew Westley had three hits including a two-run home run.
- Five Patriots had a multi-hit game and seven players scored at least one run.
George Mason (11-11, 4-2 A-10) took the lead against Longwood (17-8, 3-3 Big South) junior starter Braylon Gray in the bottom of the first. The Patriots sent nine batters to the plate and scored five runs on five hits. Junior first baseman
Jake Butler reached on an error, stole second and scored when Clyne singled to left to put the Patriots up 1-0. Sophomore left fielder
Lucas Alberti then hit a two-run home run to left field, his fifth home run of the season to make it 3-0.
Terilli and Westley then reached on back-to-back singles and stole second and third, and with two outs, redshirt sophomore catcher
Jack McCarthy drove in a pair of runs to extend to the lead to 5-0.
Longwood sent seven batters to the plate in the top of the second and scored three runs, two unearned, on one hit and two errors to make it 5-3. Graduate student first baseman Lucas Johnson had an inside the park home run in the inning on a ball that hit off the left field wall.
In the bottom of the second, the Patriots sent eight batters to the plate and scored three runs on three hits against Lancers sophomore reliever Jake Chadwell. Clyne knocked in a run with a single to center and Terilli had a 2-run single up the middle to make the score 8-3.
Longwood scored its last run of the game in the top of the third. With one out, senior center fielder Tre Keels walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single to trim the George Mason advantage to 8-4.
The Patriots answered in the home half of the third with three runs on one hit and two walks against Lancers sophomore reliever Alex Strickland. Clyne drove in two runs with a single and freshman third baseman
Jackson Morse walked and scored on an error to extend the lead to 11-4.

Julius Bagnerise walked and scored on an error in the bottom of the fifth, and Westley belted a two-run home run on the sixth for the 14-4 final score.

Tyson Willis tossed three innings and allowed just one hit and
Jackson Peters pitched the seventh.
For the Patriots, Parker (1-0) was charged with four runs, one earned, on four hits in 3.0 innings and earned his first NCAA win. Willis pitched 3.0 scoreless innings and Peters 1.0 inning.
Clyne went 3-for-3 with a walk, four RBI and two runs scored. Terilli was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Westley finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Butler was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored three runs. Bagnerise walked twice and scored three runs.Â

Longwood used six pitchers in the game. Gray (0-1) allowed five runs on five hits in 1.0 inning and took the loss. Chadwell gave up three runs on three hits in the second inning. Strickland surrendered three runs on one hit and two walks in the third.
The Patriots are back on the road for an Atlantic 10 series at Saint Louis beginning Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. (EST) at the Billiken Sports Center in St. Louis, Mo.
