RICHMOND, Va. — George Mason University (5-6) fell to VCU (8-7) 4-0 on Friday at the Thalhimer Tennis Center.
Virginia Commonwealth secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Sara Alba and Viktoria Lackova overcame
Ravaka Noemie Ramanantoanina and
Noelle Talarek with a 6-1 score at No. 3. VCU secured the doubles point after Andrea Magallanes and Sofia Jane Thorne defeated
Maya Bayat and
Brooklyn Siegel, 6-1, at No. 2 doubles. The match at No. 1 doubles, featuring
Cenan Liu and
Mary Young against Tan Andrade Sabando and Mariam Ibrahim, was left unfinished with a score of 5-2 in favor of the Rams.
In singles play, Virginia Commonwealth extended its lead with decisive performances. Alba finished first, winning 6-1, 6-1 against Siegel at No. 6 singles. Magallanes followed suit with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Talarek at No. 5 singles. Virginia Commonwealth clinched the match at No. 4 singles, where Lackova defeated Young, 6-3, 6-3.
The remaining singles matches were left unfinished. At No. 1, Liu trailed Thorne with scores of 4-6, 2-4. At No. 2 singles,
Maitree Diksha Rout was behind Sabando, 1-6, 2-4. Bayat was also trailing Ibrahim, 3-6, 3-4, at No. 3 singles when play ceased.
