FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason softball (11-12, 3-3 A-10) returns home to face Lafayette College (6-16, 0-0 PL) at the GMU Softball Complex for a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday, March 17. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 2 p.m., with game two set to begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opener (currently scheduled for 4:30 p.m.). Admission is free for all attendees.
Both matchups against the Leopards will be available to watch on ESPN+ (Game 1, Game 2) and can be followed via the live stats website.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Last weekend, Lafayette competed in the Radford Invitational, facing both Radford and East Tennessee State. In four games, the Leopards secured one victory - their first matchup against East Tennessee State - with a 5–4 win in nine innings.
Kylee Sweet leads the team offensively with a .381 batting average, recording 24 hits, five doubles, and 14 RBIs. Caroline Hall follows with a .358 average, along with 12 runs, 24 hits, and three home runs.
In the circle, Lafayette holds a team ERA of 6.15, allowing 176 hits and 141 runs. Parker Rowder has been the most effective pitcher, posting a team-best 4.26 ERA with three wins over 24.2 innings pitched. Jordan Goedeel has seen the most action, throwing 32.2 innings with a 7.29 ERA and allowing 32 walks.
LAST TIME OUT
The Patriots made a short trip to Washington, D.C. for their first Atlantic 10 road series against the George Washington Revolutionaries. The two teams split Saturday's doubleheader, with George Washington taking game one, 6–5, and the Patriots responding with a 3-1 win in game two. The Revolutionaries ultimately secured the series with a 9-7 victory in Sunday's finale.
