HILTON HEAD, S.C. — George Mason University defeated West Virginia State University 7-0 on Wednesday at Hilton Head High School. The Patriots secured all three doubles matches and swept the singles competition to clinch the victory.

The Patriots sweep a strong, ranked DII program in West Virginia State, 7-0 in Wednesday morning match in South Carolina. George Mason secured the doubles point with a clean sweep, starting at No. 3 doubles where Avleen Waraich and Lakshya Motam defeated C. Karagrigoriou and Carlota Pamies Petit, 6-0. The advantage continued at No. 1 doubles as Cenan Liu and Mary Young overcame A. MenendezThomasson and M. Mercedes Kaltakian, 6-3. The doubles point was clinched with a victory at No. 2 doubles when Brooklyn Siegel and Maya Bayat edged out D. Cruzado Fretel and Talia Nichols in a tight 7-6(7) match.

In singles, the Green & Gold's dominance persisted as Cenan Liu opened with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win over A. Menendez Thomasson at No. 1 singles. Shivaani Ganesh followed at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against C. Karagrigoriou, extending the lead. At No. 4 singles, R. Ramanantoanina defeated Talia Nichols, 6-1, 6-4, further solidifying the team's position.

The match at No. 6 singles saw Lakshya Motam claim a three-set triumph over Carlota Pamies Petit, 4-6, 6-1, 10-6, while Maya Bayat added another point with a 6-1, 6-4 win over D. Cruzado Fretel at No. 3 singles. The day's competition concluded with Maitree Diksha Rout securing the final point for the Patriots at No. 2 singles, prevailing in a three-set battle over M. MercedesKaltakian, 2-6, 6-1, 10-5.
