Fairfax, Va. –  The Patriots finished strong at the Babygrande Golf Donald Ross Collegiate Classic held in Southern Pines, N.C climbing the leaderboard to a second-place finish. It's the second straight year the Patriots finished second in the tournament.

George Mason's team score was the best by four strokes in the final round. The Patriots finished 5-under-par as a team to jump three spots from fifth place heading into the final round. VCU was the only other team under par today, with a 1-under-par effort.

The Richmond Spiders held on to win the team championship, three strokes ahead of the Patriots in the 20-team field. James Madison and George Washington tied for third place (-2).

The Patriots were led by two-under-par 70s by Vaughn McMeans and Uzair Mirza at the 6,657 yard Mid Pines Golf Club, the historic original Donald Ross course. McMeans finished 12th overall.

JJ Powell carded a 71 in the final round, his best in the three-day tournament. He carded his second eagle of the tournament today on the Par 4, 330-yard No. 4 hole.

David Fuhrer scored even par today, finishing tied for 16th, along with teammate Uzair Mirza in the 100-player field.

There was a three-way tied for individual medalist honors. Bowling Green's Pedro Garcia, Richmond's Carson Baez, and VCU's Carson Looney finished six-under-par,
