FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The George Mason women's tennis team defeats the University of Mary Washington 4-3 in Fredericksburg, Va.

The women's tennis team traveled south to Fredericksburg to take on the nationally ranked DIII program, the University of Mary Washington. After over a three hour battle the Patriots came out on top 4-3.

George Mason opened the scoring by sweeping the doubles to go up 1-0. The visitors were lead by the number 2 team of Brooklyn Siegel and Maya Bayat winning 6-2. The teams of Cenan Liu/Mary Young and Maitree Rout/Noelle Talarek followed shortly with identical scores of 6-4.

The Patriots went ahead 2-0 when Noelle Talarek (GM) defeated Evie Snyder (UMW), 6-1, 6-3. The score moved to 3-0 as newcomer Ravaka Noemie Ramanantoanina (GM) as she won over Jacey Copeland (UMW), 6-2, 6-3.

UMW mounted a comeback with the support of a very rowdy home crowd, which energized the home team Eagles as Natalie Kim (UMW) bested Maya Bayat (GM.) Addison Felts (UMW) also beat Cenan Liu (GM) to bring the score to 3-2 for Mason.

The last two matches both came down to third set tiebreakers with George Mason's Mary Young, securing the winning point with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 win over Sarah Sandoval (UMW). The Eagles took the last point when Izzy Rotaru (UMW) outlasted Maitree Rout (GM), 6-3, 2-6, 10-7.

The Patriots have a quick turn around as they are back on court indoors at the Burke Racquet & Swim Club tonight at 6:45 when they host the Hornets of Delaware State.
