GREENVILLE, S.C. - The George Mason Patriots fell 3-0 to the Furman Paladins on Friday night at Pepsi Stadium. This matchup marked the first game of the Paladin Invitational, a tournament hosted by Furman that runs until Sunday, March 1.
George Mason (5-6) managed only two hits and was unable to score, while Furman (2-15) recorded eight hits, including a home run, to secure the victory.
In the first inning, Logan Pickford managed a double to left field but was left stranded as the Patriots could not capitalize further. Furman took an early lead with an RBI double, ending the inning at 1-0 in favor of Furman.
In the fourth inning, Furman extended its lead. A single by Sylvia Burroughs was followed by a two-run homer from Rachel Hawkins, bringing the score to 3-0. The Green & Gold's attempts to respond in subsequent innings were stymied by Furman's defense.
