FAIRFAX, Va. – During a split weekend for the George Mason track & field teams, pole vaulters Walt Bannerman and Kennedy Drish competed at the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, Va.
Already a two-time Atlantic 10 Women's Field Performer of the Week this season, Kennedy Drish continued her standout indoor campaign. She set a personal best of 4.34m to place second at the meet. With the vault, Drish broke the women's indoor school record, surpassing the previous mark of 4.30m set by Madissa Marshall in 2014. After holding the top spot in the Atlantic 10 rankings throughout the season, Drish extended her lead. She also moved up to No. 25 on the NCAA Indoor Qualifying List, further establishing herself among the nation's elite.
Walt Bannerman also delivered an impressive performance, registering a season-best vault of 5.34m. The mark strengthens his position atop the Atlantic 10 standings and further separates him from the conference field. Nationally, Bannerman moved up to No. 41 on the NCAA Indoor Qualifying List.
The Virginia Tech Challenge marked the final meet for the Patriots before the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for Friday, February 27 to Saturday, February 28 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
