Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason golf program will open its Spring Championship season at the Dorado Beach Collegiate Tournament in Puerto Rico, February 22-24.
The 54-hole tournament will be played at the par 72, 7,122-yard TPC Dorado Beach Sugarcane Course. Mason will compete for three straight days, beginning Sunday in the 15-team field.
Led by
David Fuhrer's steady play (71-72-72), the Patriots finished 11
th in the 16-team tournament last season. Fuhrer balanced two birdies with two bogeys in the final round to finish tied for 29th in the field of 102 golfers.
Mason finished 10th in the 17-team tournament in the 2024 edition, besting the program's 12th place finish in 2022.
Vaughn McMeans led the Patriots in the 2025 fall season with a 70.6 stroke average.
McMeans won individual honors twice during the fall season, a feat that had have only been achieved three times in Mason history. He earned co-medalist honors at The Island at West Bay college Invitational. He followed that up earning co-medalist honors at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational.
