FAIRFAX, Va. — The George Mason Men's Tennis program achieved a historic milestone, earning its first-ever national ranking by debuting at No. 72 in the latest poll released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Patriots' rise comes on the heels of a strong 5–1 start to the season and multiple standout individual performances.

George Mason's early-season success includes dominant wins over Hofstra University (7–0) and Howard University (7–0), hard-fought victories against the United States Naval Academy (4–3) and University of Mary Washington (4–3), and a strong 6–1 win over Villanova University.

The Patriots have also received major recognition within the Atlantic 10 Conference. Freshman Edgar Vilain has earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week twice, while junior Deniz Okay was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week.

Head Coach Jimmy Davis spoke to the significance of this moment:

"Being ranked 72 in the ITA is a meaningful step for our program and a reflection of the work this group has put in over time. This has been a process — built through daily commitment, growth, and competing for each other. It's rewarding to see that progress recognized nationally. I'm very thankful for the continued support from our athletic department and administration, because that investment gives our student-athletes the opportunity to compete and develop at a high level. We're proud of this milestone, but we're still hungry to keep building."

The Patriots return to action on March 4, when they face the University of Delaware at the Mason Tennis Complex.
