ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The George Mason men's tennis team opens its spring duals season this weekend in Annapolis, Md., with back-to-back matches against Hofstra University and Navy

The Patriots begin the weekend against the Hofstra Pride on Friday evening. George Mason holds a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 2008 and earned a 5-2 victory in the teams' most recent meeting in April 2013. Friday's contest will mark the season opener for Hofstra.

Mason closes the weekend with a matchup against Navy on Saturday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center. The Midshipmen enter the contest at 4-2 overall after earning 5-2 wins over Niagara and Binghamton last weekend. Navy leads the all-time series 15-2, including a 6-1 victory over the Patriots in the teams' most recent meeting in January 2025.
FALL RECAP
The Patriots opened duals play during the Fall 2025 season with a narrow 3-4 loss to Rider University. The doubles pairing of sophomore
Edgar Vilain and junior
Niza Simunyola earned a 6-3 win at No. 2, but Rider secured victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to claim the doubles point.
In singles action,
Deniz Okyay, Vilain, and
Adria Franco each recorded comeback victories.
Ekansh Kumar and
Monil Lotlikar dropped the tightly contested, tiebreak-filled matches, while Simunyola fell in a close battle at No. 4.
During fall tournament play, Mason posted a 36-34 overall singles record and a 14-21 mark in doubles. Franco, Kumar, Lotlikar, and Vilain each finished the tournament season with five singles victories. The duo of
Shari Saeed and
Deniz Okyay went 3-1 in doubles competition, while
Zavan Fahim added three singles wins and two doubles wins to his fall campaign.
