Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason golf team will head north to Pennsylvania to participate in the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational, September 29-30.
The field of 18 teams will play two days which feature three rounds at the par 72, 7,526-yard Mystic Rock Golf Course at Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania. The event will be hosted by West Virginia University.
Last time at Nemacolin Collegiate: After carding the second-best final round, the George Mason golf team placed second at the 2024 Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational held at Mystic Rock Golf Course in Farmington, PA, posting a 14-over-par three-round team score.
Vaughn McMeans posted a solid showing, finishing T20. Fellow classmate David Fuhrer finished his tournament with a strong even-par round, finishing T44. JJ Powell continued his consistent play, finishing T25 overall.
Last Time Out: The Patriots closed the
Navy The Goat Invitational on a high note, carding its best team round of the week with an even-par 284 on Sunday, Sept. 19 at the Naval Academy Golf Course. The strong finish propelled the Patriots into a tie for seventh place at 880 (+28), alongside Georgetown and just two shots behind George Washington.
Sophomore
Vaughn McMeans led the Patriots with a 1-under 70, highlighted by three back-nine birdies to earn a tie for fourth place individually at 214 (+1). Junior teammate,
Vijay Powell matched McMeans with a 70, including a birdie at the par-5 18th, securing a T-13 finish at 217 (+4).
