ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The George Mason men's tennis team opened its 2025 fall slate at the Joe Hunt Invite in Annapolis, Md.
The Patriots combined to win ten singles matches and five doubles matches throughout the weekend against six other schools.
Senior
Ekansh Kumar completed the tournament with a singles record of 2-1, including a 7-5, 6-4 win over Aleksandar Hudjec of Campbell and a 6-4,6-2 win over Fairleigh Dickinson's Gryffin Minor. Kumar also teamed up with junior
Deniz Okyay to defeat Fairleigh Dickinson's Andre Nicolae and Benjamin Wrann 6-4 in doubles play. Okyay also went on to win his first singles match for the Patriots, defeating Tauras Mickus of Fairleigh Dickinson 6-4, 6-4
Monil Lotlikar finished the tournament with a 2-1 singles record and one doubles win. He defeated Chakor Sankaran Rajendra of Johns Hopkins 6-3, 6-1 and Joshua Oboniye of Fairleigh Dickinson 6-4, 6-2.
In his first tournament for the Patriots, freshman
Nicholas Novitski played an outstanding tournament, going 2-0 in singles play in the Pink Group 1 Division. That included wins over Flavius Henderson of Coppin State (6-0, 6-2) and Jack Wexler of Johns Hopkins (6-2, 6-1). He also partnered with Henderson to achieve a 2-1 doubles record.
Adria Franco,
Niza Simunyola, and
Edgar Vilain each completed the tournament with one singles win. Simunyola and Vilain also achieved one win each in doubles play.
