DAYTON, OH. – The George Mason Patriots dropped both games of their doubleheader today, 9-1 and 5-3.
GEORGE MASON 1, DAYTON 9
In game one against the Flyers, Jordan Tallman (2-8) started in the circle. She pitched 5.0 innings and gave up nine hits and five runs. She recorded two strikeouts and walked one batter.
George Mason got the first run on the board in the top of the second. Jordan Anderson doubled to left center, and Jessica Chan popped up to the pitcher, who made an error, allowing Anderson to score, making it 1-0.
Dayton responded in the top of the third. Scoring two runs off one hit and one error. Holman singled up the middle, and Schutter reached on a fielder's choice. Runners advanced on a throwing error.
The Flyers scored two runs on a sacrifice fly to left field from Kapsimalis, taking the lead 2-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, Dayton scored one run off one hit and one error. Flaherty doubled, Linneman laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Grace hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one, 3-1.
Kylie Wilkerson made an appearance in the circle during the sixth inning. She pitched 0.1 innings and gave up five hits and three runs. She walked one batter.
Dayton scored six more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning off eight hits to secure game one 9-1.
GEORGE MASON 3, DAYTON 5
Jordan Anderson (1-8) started in the circle for game two. She pitched 5.0 innings and gave up seven hits and five runs. She recorded two strikeouts
The Flyers scored first in the bottom of the third. Holman singled to shortstop, Shively laid down a sacrifice bunt, Schutter singled to the pitcher, and Bailey singled to right field, scoring two, making it 2-0
The Patriots scored one run in the top of the fourth inning off one hit. Logan Pickford doubled to left field and advanced to third on a passed ball. Kaylee Stinnett grounded out to the pitcher (1 RBI), scoring Pickford and closing the Flyers' lead 2-1.
In the top of the fifth, George Mason took the lead 3-2. Maya McGowan was hit by a pitch and Emma Salzman came in to pinch run. Tess Altevers Harris singled through the left side, and Logan Pickford singled to right field, scoring two runs.
Dayton scored three runs off two hits and two errors in the bottom of the fifth. Schutter singled to third base, Kapsimalis doubled to left field, and three runs scored on a throwing error.
Abbey Lane came in to pitch in the bottom of the sixth. She pitched 1.0 inning and faced three batters
