FAIRFAX, Va. – Game 2 against Rhode Island at Spuhler Field was postponed in the top of the sixth inning on account of severe weather.
Game 2 will resume tomorrow, April 27
th, at 11 a.m. Game 3 will be played immediately following the conclusion of Game 2.
The Patriots currently hold a 2-0 lead over the Rams. Junior shortstop
Owen Clyne opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when he performed a double steal from third with Junior center fielder
James Quinn-Irons, who was on first. The second score was in the fourth inning on a
Lucas Alberti RBI single to left that scored leadoff hitter
Jake Butler from second.
On the mound, starting pitcher
Connor O'Hara was making quick work of the Rhode Island lineup, having fanned eight Rams in five and two-thirds innings.
The umpires officially called for a rain delay at 2:27 p.m., with two out in the top of the sixth inning. A little over half an hour later, it was decided that Saturday's game would be postponed until tomorrow morning.
Both games will be played tomorrow and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
