FAIRFAX – George Mason is set to compete in the 2025 Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Tennis Championship, which begins Thursday, April 24, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
Slotted the No. 11 seed, the Patriots (6-14, 1-7 A-10) will open play against No. 6 seed Duquesne at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The winner will advance to face No. 3 seed Richmond, who received a first-round bye, on Friday at 11:30 a.m. Richmond finished the season 14-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
Freshman
Maya Bayat leads George Mason with a 16-9 singles record this season. The Arlington, Va. native went 8-6 in dual matches from the top four singles spots.
Noelle Talarek posted a 10-12 overall singles record, including a 5-7 mark in dual action from the middle of the lineup. In doubles,
Brooklyn Siegel and
Mary Young led the Patriots with five dual-match victories as a pair, with nine wins overall.
George Mason previously faced Duquesne on March 31, falling 4-1 in the regular season meeting.
Cenan Liu secured Mason's lone point with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 1 singles position over Mila Badics. Duquesne pulled ahead 2-1 after Maitree Rout dropped her match at No. 3, and extended the lead to 3-1 following a close three-set loss by
Mary Young at No. 2. The Dukes clinched the match with a win at No. 4.
At the time the match was decided, both Talarek and
Lauren Splett were leading in their singles matches.
The tournament semifinals are scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m., with the championship match set for Sunday at 10 a.m. All matches will be streamed live on the
USTA website, with viewers able to select specific courts to watch.
The 2025 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
