FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason Patriots won game one of the doubleheader against George Washington 3-2 off a walk-off single and dropped game two 8-1.
GEORGE MASON 3, GEORGE WASHINGTON 2 (8 Innings)
Freshman
Abbey Lane started in the circle for game one against the Revolutionaries. She pitched 4.1 innings and gave up four hits and two runs.
George Washington got things going early in the top of the first, scoring one run off two hits and one error. Heffley singled to left field and advanced to second on a fielding error, then Corpuz singled to right field scoring the run, making it 1-0.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Patriots got two runs on the board off one hit and one error.
Logan Pickford walked, then
Emily Lampela reached first on a fielding error.
Jessica Chan then doubled to right center field, scoring two runs (2 RBIs) and making it 2-1.
The Revolutionaries tied the game in the top of the fifth inning off two hits and one error. Gilliland singled up the middle, Heffley reached first on a fielding error, and Corpuz singled to left field.
Kylie Wilkerson came in to pitch in the middle of the fifth inning. She pitched 3.2 innings and gave up four hits and no runs. She had three strikeouts and earned her fourth win in the circle.
The game went into extra innings. In the bottom of the eighth inning,
Kamryn Inman walked and advanced by a ground out from
Emily Lampela.
Madi Sobota stepped up and hit a walk-off single to score Inman, winning 3-2.

In game two of this series, junior
Harlowe Nigh (4-5) started in the circle. She pitched 1.0 inning and gave up five hits and five runs. She recorded three walks and one strikeout.
George Washington scored two runs in the top of the first inning off two hits. Layfield singled through the left side and the next two batters were walked. Hayward doubled to left center scoring two runs, 2-0
The Revolutionaries scored three more runs in the top of the second innings off three hits. Gilliland singled to left field, and Layfield doubled down the left field line, 5-0
Jordan Anderson made an appearance in the circle in the middle of the second inning. She pitched 4.0 innings and gave up no hits and no runs. She recorded two strikeouts.
The Patriots scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning off one hit.
Tess Altevers Harris hit a home run over the left-field fence, making it 5-1.
Haleigh Dellow made an appearance in the circle in the top of the sixth inning. She pitched 2.0 innings and gave up four hits and three runs. She recorded two walks and one strikeout.
The Revolutionaries scored three more runs in the top of the seventh inning off three hits and one error. Hayward singled and advanced to second on a throwing error. Lew singled to second base, and Skotz hit a triple to the right-center field wall, making it 8-1.
