Fairfax, Va. -- VCU defeated Mason on a blustery Friday afternoon in the final regular season tennis match for both teams. The Patriots fell 4-1 to the visiting Rams.

The Rams opened the scoring by taking the doubles point. Mason lost at the #1 and #2 positions while team of Maya Bayat/Lakshya Motam were down 3-4 when the point was decided.
 
Maya Bayat, playing at #4, put Mason on the scoreboard when her Ram opponent defaulted.
 
VCU secured the win with singles victories at #2, #3, and # 4. Lauren Splett and Cenan Liu were both in the second set of their matches.

"The Rams are a perennial A10 power, and we battled today. When I look at where this young team is now compared to our first match of the season, I am very proud of these women for their commitment, effort and determination," commented Coach Curtis following the match.

The Patriots now await their seeding for the Atlantic 10 Championships which begin next Thursday in Orlando, FL.
