Patriots Host La Salle for Senior Day on Saturday

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team welcomes the La Salle Explorers on Saturday, April 19, at 12 p.m. at George Mason Stadium. The game will be live streamed on ESPN+ and admission is free to all fans.

George Mason and La Salle are 7-2 historically. The two teams faced off for the first time when the Patriots joined the A-10 in 2014, in a game that they Explorers took the win, 4-13. But most recently, the Patriots topped La Salle last April, 16-11.

The women's lacrosse program will be honoring their graduating class on Saturday. #22 Emma Telatovich, #1 Maddie Charland, and #17 Lauren Distad will be celebrated in a pregame ceremony. 

Telatovich, a graduate student transfer from Embry-Riddle, made the most of her one year with the Patriots. Starting every game this season, she became a rock of the defensive line, causing 18 turnovers and picking up 16 ground balls over the course of the season.

Charland, a three-year member of the Patriots, has been a constant bolt of energy since she stepped on campus. She's played in 19 games and scored her first (and second) goal vs. Howard on February 22, 2024.

Distad, the program's leader in draw controls, has donned the Green & Gold for four seasons. A native of Roseville, Minn., she's played in 65 games, starting 58 of them. Over the four years, Distad has tallied 33 goals, 14 assists,  258 draw controls, and 42 ground balls.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS

The La Salle Explorers women's lacrosse team holds a 1-13 overall record, including 0-8 in conference play. They have played seven home games (0-7) and seven on the road (1-6). The team has scored 98 goals on 263 shot attempts (.373 shooting percentage), with 183 shots on goal (.696 SOG percentage). La Salle has recorded 40 assists and converted 9 of 47 free-position attempts (.191). They have collected 159 ground balls, 135 draw controls, and caused 79 turnovers while committing 237 turnovers. Their clear percentage stands at .745.
 
Katie Johnson leads the team with 25 goals and 6 assists, followed by Alana Lathan with 23 goals and 5 assists. Molly Maloney and Kate Licciardi each have 18 points. In goal, Mary Babbage has played 474 minutes, allowing 122 goals with 94 saves (.435 save percentage), while Brooke Nelson has logged 336 minutes with 92 goals allowed and 71 saves (.436). Opponents have scored 214 goals on 507 shots, with 379 shots on goal. La Salle has been outscored in each quarter and has recorded six shot clock violations. Total attendance across home games stands at 1,573 over seven dates.

The Patriots head north to UMass to take on the Minutewomen next Saturday, April 26, for their season finale. First draw is set for noon and a live stream will be available on ESPN+.
