FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason Patriots win the first game against Saint Joseph's 3-1 and drop the second game 5-2.
GEORGE MASON 3, SAINT JOSEPH'S 1
Senior
Jordan Tallman (2-4) started in the circle for game one. She pitched 6.0 innings and gave up three hits and one run. She walked one batter and recorded three strikeouts. She earned her second win of the year.
Saint Joseph's struck first in the top of the fifth. Peterson doubled to left center, Loser laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runner to third, and Tauber grounded out to second base, scoring a run, 1-0.
George Mason responded in the bottom of the sixth inning off three hits.
Elyssa DeRosa walked, and
Tess Altevers Harris hit a triple to left field, tying the game 1-1.
Madi Sobota singled up the middle scoring Harris, giving the Patriots the lead 2-1.
Emily Lampela singled through the left side, and with Pickford up to bat the runners stole second and third.
Logan Pickford hit a sacrifice fly to center field scoring another run, making it 3-1.
Kylie Wilkerson came in to pitch in the top of the seventh inning. She pitched 1.0 inning and gave up no hits and no runs. She walked two batters and recorded her third save of the season.
GEORGE MASON 2, SAINT JOSEPH'S 5
In game two of this series,
Kylie Wilkerson started in the circle for the Patriots. She pitched 3.0 innings and gave up three hits and two runs. She walked two batters and recorded one strikeout.
In the top of the third, Saint Joseph's scored two runs off two hits. Malito reached on a fielder's choice, then York stepped up and hit a two-run home run over the left-center field fence, making it 2-0.
The Patriots tied the game in the bottom of the third off two hits and one error.
Elyssa DeRosa singled to right field, then
Tess Altevers Harris hit her second triple of the day and scored on a fielding error by the Hawks, 2-2
Abbey Lane (4-7) made an appearance in the top of the fourth inning. She pitched 2.0 innings and gave up four hits and two runs. She walked one batter.
The Hawks took the lead in the top of the fifth inning. Fretz singled to the pitcher, Sinkus singled to left field. And Currie laid down a sacrifice bunt to move runners to second and third. Peterson doubled down the left field line, scoring two runs to take the lead 4-2.
Jordan Anderson came in to pitch in the top of the sixth. She pitched 2.0 innings and gave up four hits, and one run. She walked one batter.
Saint Joseph's extended the lead in the top of the sixth inning. Cancila doubled to right field and stole third. York singled to right field, scoring a run and making it 5-2.
