Fairfax, Va. -- The Mason women's tennis team hosted Duquesne on Sunday in a conference match. The Patriots fell 4-1 to the Dukes,
Duquesne opened the scoring by taking the doubles point. The teams of

Brooklyn Siegel and
Maya Bayat/
Lakshya Motam fell to their Duke opponents.

Cenan Liu evened the score with a decisive win at the #1 position over Mila Badics, 6-3, 6-1. Mason fell behind 1-2 when Maitree Rout was defeated by Jasa Roka, 6-4, 6-2 at #3. Duquesne extended the lead to 3-1 when
Mary Young lost a hard fought battle in the third set to Kaya Rand.
The Dukes secured the 4-1 win by winning at #4. When the match was decided both
Noelle Talarek and
Lauren Splett were ahead in their singles matches.
"This was a tough loss today. I felt like this was a very winnable match. We need to have the confidence to play confidently and fearlessly. I am still very proud of the progress of this young team", commented Coach Curtis following the match.
The Patriots will host two matches this week. They play Howard at 2pm on Friday and St. Joseph's at 11am on Sunday.
