FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team (6-6, 1-1) picked up an important league sweep of Duquesne (2-9, 0-4) on Sunday morning at the GMU Tennis Courts.
The Patriots won the doubles point and three singles matches to claim victory.
In doubles, GMU earned victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Senior
Ekansh Kumar and freshman
Shari Saeed won 7-5 at No. 2, while graduate student
Milan Gonela and senior
Dustin Ha claimed a 6-2 win at No. 3.
In singles, Kumar also earned a three-set win at No. 1 over Alfrendo Vogelaar. He won the first frame, 7-5, fell in the second, 6-4, but rebounded to win the third, 6-3.
Senior
Monil Lotlikar also claimed victory at No. 2 in three sets over Keita Duclos (6-1, 2-6, 6-4).
The Patriots also earned a singles point at No. 3 courtesy of senior
Jacco Arends. He won a first set tiebreak (7-6 (7-5)), dropped the second set (6-4), but came back to win the third (6-4).
George Mason is back in action Friday (April 4) with a 2 p.m. home contest vs. Howard.
