ARLINGTON, Va. – Six players had a multi-hit game for the Patriots in an 11-1 win over George Washington in eight innings in the series finale at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va.
THE LEADOFF
- Graduate student designated hitter Sam Lavin had three hits, one RBI and one run scored.
- Graduate student first baseman Jonny Wall had three hits, reached base five times and scored a run.
- Sophomore second baseman Toby Hueber reached base four times, drove in a run and scored twice.
- Every player in the lineup drove in at least one run and scored at least one run.
- The Patriots turned three double plays in the game.
George Mason (17-11, 5-4 A-10) took the lead against George Washington (15-12, 5-4 A-10) freshman starter Declan Wywoda in the top of the second. The Patriots sent eight batters to the plate and took advantage of two errors to score five unearned runs.

Owen Clyne was then hit by a pitch to put the Patriots in front, 1-0.
George Mason scored its second run on a double play ball to make it 2-0. With two out, Quinn-Irons walked and stole second before sophomore third baseman
Jake Butler ripped a two-run single to left field to double the lead to 4-0. Freshman left fielder
Lucas Alberti plated the fifth run of the inning with a single to right field.
George Washington got on the board in the bottom of the second against Patriots junior starter
Brandon Cassedy. With two out, senior third baseman Ty Acker walked, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single to make the score 5-1. Cassedy scattered three singles in his outing.
In the top of the seventh, Lavin led off with a single, Hueber reached on a fielder's choice and Wall loaded the bases with an infield single. Graduate student catcher
Nick Barenze then plated a run with a ground out and Clyne drove in another with a sacrifice fly to extend the advantage to 7-1.
In the top of the eighth, the Patriots sent eight batters to the plate and scored four runs on five hits against three Revolutionaries pitchers.
Sophomore right fielder
Owen Hull led off with a double and Quinn-Irons bunted his way on with Hull scoring on a throwing error on the play to increase the lead to 8-1.
After a sacrifice bunt, Alberti was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch to put a pair of runners in scoring position. Quinn-Irons scrambled home on a wild pitch, and Lavin and Hueber each followed with back-to-back singles to make it 11-1.
The Patriots snapped a four-game losing streak.
For the Patriots, Cassedy (3-1) allowed just one run on three hits over 5.0 innings and earned the win. Graduate student
Gardner Meeks tossed 3.0 scoreless innings to notch his first save as a Patriot.
George Washington used five pitchers in the game. Wywoda (2-3) surrendered five unearned runs on five hits over 1.2 innings and took the loss. Sophomore Gavin Miller gave up two unearned runs on two hits in 2.0 innings. Graduate student Graham Jeffries allowed four runs on four hits and retired one batter in the eighth inning.
Lavin went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored. Butler was 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. Hueber went 2-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored. Wall finished 3-for-4 and scored a run.
The Patriots conclude eight straight games on the road when they travel to take on James Madison on Tuesday, April 1, with the first pitched scheduled for 6 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Va.
