Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite a valiant effort, George Mason lacrosse put up a strong fight before ultimately falling to George Washington, 15-8, in an Atlantic 10 matchup on Saturday.
The Patriots started strong in the first quarter, keeping pace with the Revolutionaries in a high-energy opening frame. Goals from Kate Anders and Giselle Torain helped George Mason stay in striking distance. However, George Washington's attack was relentless, and the Revs had a 5-3 advantage after the first quarter.
In the second, George Mason responded with two goals from Dahlia Trippel. Despite the gaols, GW maintained its edge, heading into halftime with an 8-5 lead.
George Mason's defense stepped up in the third quarter, limiting GW's opportunities and forcing tough shots. The Patriots managed to match the Revolutionaries with two goals apiece in the frame, keeping hope alive heading into the final 15 minutes.
However, George Washington took control in the fourth, using their dominance on the draw and a late offensive surge to pull away. The Green & Gold fought until the final whistle, but GW's efficiency in transition sealed the 15-8 result.
