FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason Patriots lost 4-3 today against Towson University.

Freshman Abbey Lane (4-4) started in the circle today. She pitched three innings and gave up one hit and no runs. Lane walked one batter and had one strikeout.
 
The Patriots scored two runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Elyssa DeRosa hit her sixth triple of the year, Madi Sobota singled up the middle to score a run, and Logan Pickford grounded out to first, scoring Sobota, making it 2-0.
 
Harlowe Nigh made an appearance in the top of the fourth inning. She pitched two innings and let up two hits and four runs. Nigh recorded two strikeouts and walked one batter.
 
The Tigers took the lead in the top of the fifth inning off four hits and one error. Broadbent walked, and Gorczyca singled to third base. Runners advanced to second and third on a wild pitch, and the first run was scored on a drop third strike passed ball, 2-1
 
Benton then reached on a fielder's choice, and the runner at home was safe due to a Patriots throwing error, 2-2. Bostley grounded out to second base scoring a run, and Bohner singled to right field scoring their last run of the game, 4-2.
 
Haleigh Dellow appeared in the circle at the top of the sixth inning. She pitched two innings, gave up two hits, no runs, and walked one batter.
 
George Mason came within one in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Patriots scored one run off one hit and one error. Emma Salzman singled to shortstop, and Elyssa DeRosa reached first on an error by the Tigers.

• Tess Altevers Harris, Maya McGowan, and Emma Salzman recorded a hit

• Inman and Sobota both recorded a stolen base

UP NEXT

The Patriots are back home this Saturday and Sunday for a three-game series against the University of Massachusetts. They will play a doubleheader March 29^th starting at noon and a single game on March 30^th starting at noon
