Fairfax, Va. -- The George Mason men's golf team recorded its best team score in three rounds to finish in the middle of the leaderboard at the UC San Diego Invitational, played at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
The Patriots (606-604-603=913) finished 11th out of 20 teams, just one stroke behind CSU Northridge. New Mexico State (885) won the tournament by two strokes over Arkansas State.
Three Patriots finished t-33 overall in the field of 111 golfers. Sophomore JJ Powell recorded his best round of the tournament today with a one-under-par 71 at the Par 72, 7,802-yard Torrey Pines South Course. Powell was steady today with 12 pars and along with four birdies.

Samir Davidov (78-75-75=228) tied their teammate with the three-round score (228).
Arkansas State's Thomas Schmidt earned medalist honors at 5-under-par, the only player under par. Kevin Li from Seattle University was runner-up at one-over-par.
