Softball Drop Game Against Providence

ORLANDO, Fla. – George Mason dropped their last game of the Charge on Classic against Providence, 6-1.
 

GEORGE MASON 1, PROVIDENCE 6
In game one, Senior Jordan Anderson (1-2) started in the circle for the Patriots. She pitched 4.1 innings and gave up seven hit hits, five runs, and three errors. She had four strikeouts and only walked one batter.
 
The Patriots were the designated visiting team and Maddy Johnson got things going with a single to third base in the top of the first inning. A pitch hit Emily Lampela and George Mason had two runners on base. Both runners were left on base.
 
The Friars scored one run off two hits and no errors in the bottom of the first. Smith stepped up and hit a triple to right field. Lee singled up the right side, scoring Smith, then the Patriots got three straight outs.
 
Both teams were scoreless until Providence got another run on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Dunn stepped up and hit a home run over the right-field fence, making it 2-0.
 
Providence extended the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. They scored three runs off three hits and one error. Sebastian singled down the left-field line, Smith singled to shortstop, and Douma doubled to left center.
 
The Friars scored their last run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Smith tripled down the right field line, and Lee singled down the right field line.
 
The Patriots scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh. Jessica Chan and Kamryn Inman both singled through the left side. Charlotte Montgomery laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance runners to second and third. Kaitlyn Bronowicz grounded out to first base scoring Chan.

George Mason Softball is back home on March 5th at 3:00 p.m. to play against Towson University. The team will be having their Support Staff Appreciation Day during this game!
