Samir Davidov and
Vaughn McMeans swept the Atlantic 10 weekly awards, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon. This is the first conference weekly honor for both golfers.
Both players earned the honor for their outstanding play at the Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate, held at Mid-Pines Golf Club, March 10-11.
Junior
Samir Davidov (66-71-73) secured his first collegiate tournament victory at the event hosted by George Mason.
Davidov set the pace early, taking the first-round lead with a 6-under-par 66 on the Par 72, 6,730-yard course. He maintained at least a share of the lead throughout the tournament, showcasing a strong performance on the Par 5, 10th hole, where he carded two eagles and a birdie in the three rounds.
The Roanoke, Va. native scrambled out of the woods on the final hole, the Par 4 18
th hole to secure the win. Davidov notched 13 birdies and two eagles in the tournament. He finished even on the final round.
The event marks Davidov's best collegiate finish topping his runner-up finish at the Doc Gimmler Intercollegiate at Bethpage State Park's Red Course in 2022-23 where he fired a 12-under total.
Freshman
Vaughn McMeans is making his mark early in his collegiate career picking up his first conference Rookie of the Week award. McMeans made an impact at the tournament hosted by George Mason, finishing in the top 25 with a 2-over-par total (73-73-72) in the field of 100 golfers.
The Patriots continued their solid team play, finishing second overall for the second time this season. The team posted a two-under-par 862 (286-290-286), making them the only other team under par in the tournament. It marks the highest finish in the five years of the tournament by the host Patriots.
