Softball Hosts Rhode Island to Start A-10 Play

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason softball team starts conference play this weekend against Rhode Island. The Patriots will play a doubleheader on Friday, March 14th at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., and a single game on Saturday, March 15th, at 12:00 p.m.
 

A LOOK AT THE PATRIOTS
The Patriots had two midweek games this past week. On Tuesday, George Mason played at home against Howard and won 5-3, then on Wednesday, they traveled to UMBC, where they secured the win 11-1 over the Retrievers.
 
Currently, the Patriots are ranked first in the Atlantic 10 conference for stolen bases per game (1.87), total runs (101), and runs batted in (97). They also rank first in the conference for triples (9), ranking them 21st nationally.
 
Elyssa DeRosa is ranked first in the conference and seventh in the country for triples (4) and is ranked second in the conference for triples per game (0.17). Kamryn Inman is ranked fourth in the A-10 in stolen bases (8) and Maddy Johnson is ranked eighth with (6). Abbey Lane is ranked fourth in the conference for complete games (3) and second for saves (2), which ranks her 24th in the nation.

Rhode Island
2025 record: 4-11, 0-0 ATLANTIC 10
This season, Rhode Island sits at 4-11 overall. They just played in the UMBC Round Robin Tournament, where they went 2-3 overall against Cornell, UMBC, and FDU.
 
Kylie Bulinski is leading the Rams with a .359 batting average. She has 14 hits, scoring four runs and six RBIs. Allison Jones is second on the team with a .346 batting average. She has nine hits, scoring three runs and four RBIs. Katie Knarr is third on the team with a .342 average, she had 13 hits, scoring three runs and four RBIs.
 
Pitcher Ashley Hibbard is ranked 11th in the conference for complete games (2) and fifth for strikeouts per seven innings (7.1). Sarah Trosin and Brooke Gerry are both ranked fourth for saves (4). Hannah Hernandez is ranked first in the A-10 for toughest to strikeout (20.5)
 
The Patriots and Lancers last met in May of 2024, where George Mason pulled away with a win 3-2 at Rhode Island.

The Patriots are back on the road next week in Charlottesville, Virginia, to play a single game against the University of Virginia at 5:00 p.m.
