FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason lacrosse team dropped a midweek matchup against VCU on Wednesday, 12-7.
Despite a determined effort, George Mason fell 12-7 to VCU in a hard-fought battle at home. The Patriots showed resilience, with standout performances from Dahlia Trippel (2 goals, 1 assist) and Kate Anders (1 goal, 2 assists), who helped keep the team in contention. George Mason's defense, led by goalkeeper Regan Bestick's impressive 14 saves, worked tirelessly to slow down VCU's attack.
After a tough first quarter where VCU jumped to a 5-2 lead, the Patriots adjusted and fought back, keeping pace in the later quarters. Trippel and Giselle Torain capitalized on key opportunities, and the team forced six turnovers while staying competitive on draw controls (9 to VCU's 13). Ultimately, the first half hole proved too much, and when the final buzzer sounded, it was 12-7, Rams.
