FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason Patriots are on a three-game winning streak after beating Howard University 5-3 and UMBC 11-1 in back-to-back days.
GEORGE MASON 5, HOWARD 3
On Tuesday afternoon (March 11
th), the Patriots beat the Howard Bison at home 5-3.
Kylie Wilkerson (1-3) started in the circle and pitched five innings, letting up five hits and two runs off one error. She had two strikeouts and walked one batter.
The Bison got out to an early lead in the top of the first after Higa got walked, advancing on two groundouts and scoring on a wild pitch to go up 1-0
George Mason responded in the bottom of the second inning.
Logan Pickford was walked,
Tess Altevers Harris hit a double down the left-field line, and
Kamryn Inman hit a single, scoring two runs.
Maya McGowan reached first on a fielder's choice, scoring Inman and the Patriots were up 3-1.
Howard scored another run in the top of the fourth inning off two hits and one error. Jones reached third on a fielding error, and Riggins grounded out to shortstop, scoring a run to make it 3-2.
The Patriots scored another run in the bottom of the fourth. Inman walked and stole second and third base to get in scoring position.
Madi Sobota singled through the left side, scoring the run, Patriots up 4-2.
Howard tried to come back but ultimately only scored one more run. Riggins was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a passed ball. Fletcher singled to center field, scoring the run to make it 4-3
George Mason added some cushion to their lead in the top of the sixth inning.
Jasmine Mack stepped up and hit a single to right field. McGowan reached on a fielder's choice, and
Charlotte Montgomery laid down a sacrifice bunt to move runners to second and third. Sobota hit a sacrifice fly to score their last run of the game.

On March 12
th, the Patriots traveled to UMBC in Baltimore County, Md. They secured the win in six innings, beating the Retrievers 11-1.
Abbey Lane (3-2) started in the circle. She pitched a complete game, only letting up one hit, run, and error. She struck out three batters and walked five.
George Mason got the bats going in the top of the first inning.
Elyssa DeRosa and
Emily Lampela both hit singles, and
Logan Pickford stepped up to bat and hit a three-run home run to help the Patriots go up 3-0.
The Patriots scored another run in the top of the third inning.
Madi Sobota walked and advanced to second on a throwing error, and
Emily Lampela walked.
Logan Pickford hit a sacrifice fly to score a run.
George Mason kept the energy up in the top of the fifth inning. They scored three runs off one hit and three errors by the Retrievers.
Kamryn Inman had a single to right field, and two runs scored off errors in this play.
Madi Sobota kept things going for the Patriots in the top of the sixth inning. She hit her second home run of the season.

Jasmine Mack doubled to left center, scoring two runs.
The Retrievers scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Nutile hit a home run to make it 11-1.
