ORLANDO, Fla. – George Mason won game one in a thriller against Georgia Southern on Saturday morning, 9-7. Later in the afternoon, the Patriots lost to North Florida, 12-11.
GEORGE MASON 9, GEORGIA SOUTHERN 7
In game one,
Jordan Tallman (1-4) started in the circle for the Patriots. She pitched 2.1 innings with three hits, two runs, and one error.
The Patriots were the designated visiting team in game one and got things going early in the top of the first.
Elyssa DeRosa singled to left field and
Emily Lampela singled to right center. Both runners were left on base.
George Mason got things going in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs off one hit and one error.
Charlotte Montgomery reached first on a fielding error by the shortstop and
Kaylee Stinnett reached first on a walk. DeRosa stepped up and hit a double to left center scoring two runs.
Harlowe Nigh stepped in the circle, pitched 1.2 innings, and had three hits, three runs, and one error.
The Eagles got two runs on the board in the bottom of the third inning. They had one hit, one error, and left three on base. Cushman singled up the middle, Gillespie laid down a sacrifice bunt, Barth walked, Davis reached first on a fielding error, and Maxwell reached on a fielder's choice.
The Patriots had hot bats in the top of the fourth, getting seven hits and scoring seven runs.
Jessica Chan hit a single up the middle,
Kamryn Inman hit a triple down the right field line,
Kaylee Stinnett doubled to left field,
Maddy Johnson singled to the pitcher,
Emily Lampela doubled to right field,
Logan Pickford doubled to center field, and Chan stepped up again and hit a single up the middle.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Georgia Southern scored three runs off three hits and one error, leaving one on base. They kept the energy up in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs off two hits, no errors, leaving three on base.

In the Patriots' second game, Senior
Jordan Tallman (1-4) started in the circle. She gave up three hits, three runs, and two errors before leaving the game with an injury.
North Florida turned up the heat in the top of the first inning. They scored seven runs off three hits, one error, and left three on base.
The Patriots responded in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs off three hits and one error, leaving two on base.
Elyssa DeRosa singled to third base,
Logan Pickford singled up the middle, and
Jessica Chan doubled to right center.
Haleigh Dellow came in to pitch in the top of the second. She pitched 2.1 innings and let up four hits, two runs, and two errors.
North Florida scored one run off three hits and one error, leaving two on base in the top of the second. Reichert doubled to right field, McQuill singled to left field, and Culp singled to shortstop.
The Patriots scored three more runs in the bottom of the second.

Emily Lampela singled up the middle, and
Logan Pickford reached on a fielding error.
George Mason kept the energy up in the bottom of the third. They scored two runs off one hit and no errors.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Patriots scored three runs off three hits and one error.

Maddy Johnson singled to center field.
North Florida responded in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs off two hits and no errors, leaving one on base. Both teams were scoreless in the sixth inning.
