Fairfax, Va. -- George Mason junior Malachi DuVall was selected as the East Wrestler of the Week, announced by the Mid-American Conference.

Malachi DuVall (14-4) earned a big win against the top ranked MAC wrestler and nationally-ranked #11 Isaac Dean in a dual with the Rider Broncs on Saturday. The 184-pounder struck first early on but Dean would lead 4-2 after the first period. An escape and a penalty point was awarded to DuVall in the second period to tie the match at 4-4. DuVall chose bottom to start the final period and took the 5-4 lead after an escape in what would be the final point for the match. 

It's the third time DuVall has been selected for the award, winning the weekly award twice last season.

It's the third weekly conference award this season by a Mason wrestler. Logan Messer won the weekly honor (12/10) and DJ McGee won on Dec. 31.

The Patriots are home to wrestle Brown University on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 2 pm inside the RAC.
