Softball Drop Two Games on Friday

ORLANDO, Fla. – George Mason Softball drop both games Friday afternoon. In their first game against Georgia Southern, the Patriots fell 3-0. Then, in the second game against host UCF, the Patriots lost 8-0.
 

GEORGE MASON 0, GEORGIA SOUTHERN 3
In game one, senior pitch Jordan Anderson (1-1) started in the circle for the Patriots. She pitched 4.0 innings and had four hits, three runs, and one error.
 
Georgia Southern got things going in the bottom of the first inning when the Patriots made a fielding error. The Eagles scored two runs off one hit and one error, leaving one person on base.
 
In the bottom of the second, Tess Altevers Harris reached first on a fielding error by the third basemen, but the Patriots couldn't get anything going and left her on base.
 
The Eagles scored their last run of the game in the top of the third inning with a double from Combs to center field, a single from Cushman to shortstop, and a sacrifice flyout from Barth to the left fielder.
 
There was hope in the bottom of the third when Kaitlyn Bronowicz reached first on a fielding error by the first basemen, but the Patriots left her on base.
 
Jordan Tallman came in to pitch at the top of the fifth inning. She pitched three innings and had four hits, no runs, and no errors.

In the Patriots' second game, Junior Harlowe Nigh (0-2) started in the circle. She pitched two innings and had two hits, four runs, and one error.
 
UCF got the first run on the board in the bottom of the first off a throw down to second to try to catch a runner stealing, and the runner from third scored
 
The Knights kept up the energy in the bottom of the second, scoring three runs off two hits and three errors. Damon singled toward the pitcher, Jaimes reached on a sacrifice bunt, and Evans hit a two-run home run over the left-field wall.
 
Kylie Wilkerson came in to pitch in the top of the fourth inning. She pitched two innings, gave up five hits, four runs, and had four errors.
 
Elyssa DeRosa got the first hit of the day with a single to right center field. She advanced runners in scoring position, but to no avail, the Knights got out of the inning, leaving three runners on base.
 
UCF secured the deal in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring three runs off five hits and no errors.
 
 
UP NEXT
George Mason has two more games tomorrow March 1st in the Charge on Classic. The Patriots play Georgia Southern at 9:00 a.m. and North Florida at 2:00 p.m.
