ORLANDO, Fla. – The George Mason softball team is on the road this weekend for the Charge on Classic, hosted by the University of Central Florida. They will play games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Opponents include Georgia Southern, UCF, and Providence College.
 

A LOOK AT THE PATRIOTS
In the Patriot's home opening doubleheader against Saint Francis, they dropped both games, 3-1 and then 4-3. Logan Pickford recorded her first home run of the season, and four Patriots recorded RBIs. Emily Lampela, Maya McGowan, and Jasmine Mack recorded hits against the Red Flash in game two.
 
George Mason also played a doubleheader on Sunday against Niagara and split the games 1-1. The first game was lost, 3-1, but the Patriots fought back in game two and secured the win 12-4. Kaylee Stinnett hit her first career home run in a George Mason jersey, and Jessica Chan got her first career start as well as her first career hit, earning two RBIs. There were four Patriots that recorded multiple hits and Emily Lampela had two doubles in game two.
 
 
HOME OPENER HIGHLIGHTS

• Logan Pickford hit her first home run of the season (five hits, four runs, and two RBIs)
• Kaylee Stinnett hit her first career home run
• Jessica Chan got her first career start and first career hit, earning two RBIs
• Emily Lampela had three hits, three RBIs, and two runs this weekend
• Kamryn Inman had two hits, and three runs this weekend
• Kaitlyn Bronowicz had two hits, one run, and one RBI

 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
 
Georgia Southern University
2024 record: 30-21, 12-12 Sun Belt Conference
Last season, Georgia Southern was the No. 7 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. They fell to No. 10 Marshall in the first round. The Eagles had one player earn Second Team All-Sun Belt honors, Junior outfielder Emma Davis.
 
This season, Georgia Southern is currently 8-5 overall, 2-2 at neutral sites, and on a four-game winning streak. In the all-time series, the Eagles have three wins and no losses against the Patriots. The last time these two teams met was February 11^th, 2012, and the Eagles pulled away with the win, 10-1 at a neutral site.
 
University of Central Florida
2024 record: 31-25, 12-15 Big 12 Conference
Last season, UCF was the No. 5 seed in the Big 12 Conference Tournament but fell to No. 4 Baylor in round two. One player earned All-Big 12 First Team honors, senior pitcher and outfielder Sarah Willis. Two players earned Second Team honors, Shannon Doherty and Chloe Evans, and two players earned All-Freshman Team honors, Sierra Humphreys and Samantha Rey.
 
This year, Central Florida is 12-6-1. In the all-time series, the Knights have seven wins and no losses against the Patriots. These two teams last met in February of 2019, and UCF secured the win in Orlando, 7-0.
 
Providence College
2024 record: 22-23-1, 11-13 Big East Conference
Providence College is 0-9 this season after playing in the Gamecock Invitational and Bubbly Invitational. In the all-time series against the Friars, the Patriots have one win and two losses. In the last match-up between these two teams, the Patriots secured the win 9-2 in Wilmington, North Carolina.
