FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team continues its homestand on Wednesday, February 26 as they take on Longwood at 4 p.m. at George Mason Stadium. The Patriots (3-2) look to build on their recent 16-11 victory over Lindenwood, while Longwood seeks their first win of the season.
The Patriots and Longwood are 6-3, historically. In their most recent matchup, the Lancers prevailed with a 10-7 win last March.
Last season, the Patriots went 10-8, 4-6 in A-10 play, which was the programs best season since 2019, and the best season under head coach
Kara Mupo. It was also the Patriots' first appearance in the Atlantic 10 tournament since 2019.

Longwood (0-2) enters Monday's matchup still searching for its first win of the season after falling to Old Dominion (13-6) and VCU (15-3). The Lancers have struggled offensively, averaging just 4.5 goals per game while shooting 28.1% from the field. Alexandra Hirst leads the team with three goals, while Miranda Helfenbein has contributed three points on one goal and two assists.
Defensively, Longwood has allowed 14.0 goals per game while being outshot 63-32 through two contests. The Lancers have also struggled on the draw, securing just 12 draw controls compared to their opponents' 31. In net, goalkeepers Cybella Smith and Amelia Carlile have split time, combining for 22 saves and a .440 save percentage. Longwood will need to improve in possession and capitalize on limited offensive opportunities to challenge the Patriots on Monday.
