BURKE, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team won all nine matches in a 7-0 sweep of Coppin State Saturday evening at the Burke Racquet & Swim Club.
GM captured the three doubles matches, highlighted by a 6-0 sweep at No. 2, courtesy of
Niza Simunyola and
Rayan El khalifi.
Jacco Arends and
Milan Gonela won 7-5 at No. 1, while
Dustin Ha and
Ekansh Kumar put together a solid 6-3 victory at No. 3.
In singles, Kumar swept his Eagle foe at No. 1 (6-1, 6-3), while
Monil Lotlikar also claimed victory in straight sets at No. 2 (6-3, 6-2).
Arends only gave up one game in a sweep at No. 3 (6-0, 6-1), while Simunyola took a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4.
Rounding out the tremendous Patriot effort,
Zavan Fahim won an 8-0 match at No. 5 and
Shari Saeed won 8-2 at No. 6.
The Patriots return to action Wednesday (Feb. 26) with a 2 p.m. contest at James Madison.
