FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team continues its early-season schedule with a home matchup against American University on Wednesday, February 19. The opening draw is set for 12:00 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.

George Mason and American are 18-5 historically. In their last matchup, the Eagles fended off a late push from the Patriots to win, 11-10. American enters Wednesday's matchup with a 1-2 record, having most recently suffered a 17-4 setback against No. 16 Loyola (Md.) on February 15. The Eagles earned their first win of the season on February 11 with an 18-7 victory over Howard.

Their lone win came against Howard (18-7), but they suffered losses to Georgetown (5-12) and Loyola Maryland (4-17). Offensively, they average 9.0 goals per game while allowing 12.0. The team has shown efficiency in shooting, converting 35.1% of their attempts with 71.4% of shots on goal. However, they struggle with possession, recording 43 turnovers compared to their opponents' 33, and losing the ground ball battle 26-44. Despite this, they have been competitive in draw controls, winning 31 compared to 40 for their opponents, and have a solid 83.3% clearing success rate (40-for-48).
