FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team hosts their home opener on Friday, February 14, at 4 p.m. at George Mason Stadium against the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs.

George Mason and Radford have only met once previously, last year in a late February match up when the Patriots pulled out a 19-11 win in North Carolina. Now-junior Kaitlyn Bestick had her first career hat trick in that match.

Last season, the Patriots went 10-8, 4-6 in A-10 play, which was the programs best season since 2019, and the best season under head coach Kara Mupo. It was also the Patriots' first appearance in the Atlantic 10 tournament since 2019.

PATRIOT POINTS
  • In their opening week, six Patriots notched multiple goals. Peyton Farley, Dahlia Trippel, and Daniella Jimenez currently lead the team. Farley has nine points (5 goals, 4 assists), Trippel has tallied six goals, and Jimenez has added 4 goals and 2 assists of her own.
  • Last week, freshmen Catherine Pollard, Giselle Torain, and Camryn Myers all scored their first goals in the Green & Gold
  • George Mason was picked 7th in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll
  • The Patriots have lost 51% of last year's scoring, including A-10 First Team All-Conference awardee Shannon Tuozzo (61 goals)
  • Returning for the Green & Gold includes 2024 All-Rookie Team Daniella Jimenez and last year's second-most goal scorer Dahila Trippel (35 goals)
  • The Patriots added nine newcomers in the off season

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Runnin' Bulldogs are currently 0-1 on the season. They dropped their opening contest to UNC-Charlotte, 20-2, with junior midfielder Emma Duchscherer and freshman attack Katie Westbrook has the lone two goal scorers.

Gardner-Webb finished last season 0-17, losing by an average of 11.8 goals per match. Since last season, assistant coach Chris Harris was named interim head coach, and the Runnin' Bulldogs added 12 newcomers.

UP NEXT
George Mason continue their homestand with a midweek matchup against regional foe, American, on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 4 p.m. Admission is free for all fans and a broadcast will be available on ESPN+.
