FAIRFAX, Va. – Graduate student Ella Semple will open her indoor track and field season as she competes in the women's 5000m run at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday, December 6, hosted by Boston University in Boston, Mass.

Semple will represent George Mason in a highly competitive field that features nine heats of the women's 5K, with races beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Sharon Colyear Danville meet annually draws some of the top collegiate and professional distance runners from across the country, making it one of the premier early-season indoor meets.

Semple enters the indoor season with significant momentum after a standout Fall 2025 cross-country campaign. Just last month, she captured first place in the Women's 6K at the 2025 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships in Cedarville, Ohio. With this victory, she became the third George Mason women's cross-country runner to win the A-10 Championship in program history.
