Fairfax-- George Mason's
Malachi DuVall has been named the Co-East Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Wrestler of the Week after an outstanding performance against conference foe Buffalo and NC State on Sunday.
DuVall had an outstanding weekend, winning both of his dual matches in impressive fashion. In the team's conference-opening victory over Buffalo, DuVall earned a dominant 13–1 major decision over Marcus Petite, avenging a 7–1 loss to Petite in last year's dual meet. In his second bout against NC State, DuVall needed just 92 seconds to pin Rylan Breen. The fall marked his nation-leading ninth Division I pin of the season—three more than any other wrestler nationally—and improved his overall record to 17–2.
The honor marks the third MAC Wrestler of the Week award this season for the Patriots.
Logan Messer and
Evan Maag won in back-to-back weeks, Nov. 11 and 18
th. This is DuVall's fourth MAC Wrestler of the Week award overall.
George Mason returns to action in January at the David Lehman Open on Jan. 9.
