FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University has announced the promotion of
Reynaldo Radlin to Associate Head Coach for the Men's and Women's Track & Field programs, Head Coach
Andrew Gerard announced Friday.
"We're extremely pleased to announce the elevation of Coach Radlin to Associate Head Coach," said Head Coach
Andrew Gerard. "In my mind, an Associate Head is a coach who can, literally, run the program in the place of the head coach, should the need arise, and Coach Radlin has certainly demonstrated that ability in his time here. He is a detail-oriented administrator and a tireless recruiter but most importantly, a tremendously effective, athlete-centered coach. The renewed energy and revived level of expectation that he has brought to the program has been evident in our performances on the track and runways but, more importantly, in the day-to-day execution of the athletes—and we all know that is where championships are won: in the daily work, positive attitude, and commitment from the athletes. I'm very pleased that we've been able to recognize his efforts with a title commensurate with his contributions."
Radlin, now in his fourth year with the Patriots, has played a pivotal role in the program's continued rise within the Atlantic 10 Conference. Since joining George Mason, he has coached the sprints, hurdles, and relays groups while also overseeing the horizontal jumps.
Under Radlin's guidance, the Patriots have produced five individual and one relay NCAA Championship First Round qualifiers, contributing to three Atlantic 10 team championships – the 2023 Women's Outdoor, 2025 Women's Indoor, and 2025 Men's Outdoor titles. His athletes have captured nine individual A-10 titles, five relay titles, and earned 26 medal performances at the conference level. In addition, his coaching has guided multiple student-athletes to represent their countries at the U20 level, including the United States, Canada, and Spain.
Before joining George Mason, Radlin was instrumental in building powerhouse teams at Grand Valley State University, where he helped the Lakers capture three NCAA Division II Team Championships and 14 GLIAC titles. During his tenure, he mentored six NCAA individual champions, including the 2021 Women's 4x100m relay team, and guided 75 All-Americans. In 2022, he was named the USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor Men's Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
Radlin's collegiate coaching journey began at Troy University, where he served from 2015–2018. During his time with the Trojans, he coached athletes to multiple Sun Belt Conference titles, All-Sun Belt honors, and NCAA Championship qualifiers, while also mentoring a World U20 relay gold medalist.
A former standout athlete himself, Radlin competed at The University of North Carolina, where he was a two-time ACC Champion in the 400m hurdles (2011) and 4x400m relay (2013). A six-time All-ACC performer, he captained the Tar Heels and qualified for the NCAA East Regional four times.
Radlin earned his Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science from UNC in 2013 and a Master's degree in Sport and Fitness Management from Troy University in 2017.
Reflecting on his promotion, Radlin shared:
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to step into this expanded leadership role and continue to elevate this program alongside Coach Gerard and our Track and Field staff. I have truly valued my time at George Mason, professionally and personally, and would like to thank Coach Gerard, Todd Bramble, our staff and the athletic department for the opportunity. Our entire athletic department is on the rise and I am excited to continue leading and impacting the lives of student-athletes as we push for A10 and NCAA Championship success. I would also like to thank my wife, Joeandra, whose continued support allows me to chase my passions every single day. Lastly, my family and my mentors who helped build the foundation for the kind of man and coach I am today. GO PATRIOTS!"
