FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team is ready for a challenging 2025-26 season, its seventh in the Mid-American Conference.
The schedule includes 14 duals, with Mason hosting six matches in Fairfax.
George Mason will open the season competing at the Navy Classic on Sunday Nov. 2 in Annapolis. There is a very competitive twelve team field including two programs in the top ten nationally. The Patriots will compete against wrestlers from #2 Nebraska, #7 Lehigh, #17 Pittsburgh, #29 Navy, American, Binghamton, Bloomsburg, Bucknell, Drexel, Morgan State, and Virginia.
The annual Mason Duals are slated for Nov. 8. The Patriots will face Campbell, Citadel, and Williams in the Field House.
The following weekend, the Patriots will split their team, sending wrestlers to both the Shorty Hitchcock Memorial Open at Millersville University and to the Army West Point Open.
The Patriots will on the road for a dual at American (Nov. 20), before participating in the Big Red Invitational at Cornell University on Sunday, Nov. 23.
"We've got an experienced group this year, and we wanted to challenge them early," said Head Coach
Frank Beasley. "The first half of our schedule is packed with high-level competition by design. We want our veterans tested right away so we can make adjustments and continue improving. As we move into the second half of the season, our focus will shift to sharpening up for duals and postseason competition."
The Patriots will host the annual A Better Way Athletics Open on Dec. 7. After a break for finals, the team is beginning a new home-and-home series with powerhouse NC State, beginning in North Carolina on Dec. 21. The Green and Gold will also face conference foe Buffalo while they are at NC State.
The Patriots will be away for most of January, beginning at the Franklin & Marshall Open on January 9. The team will compete against four MAC opponents, two on the road at Bloomsburg (Jan. 16) and Lock Haven (Jan. 25) and host Edinboro (Jan. 23) and Lock Haven (Jan. 30) for its second annual match at the Johnson Center on campus. The match at the Johnson Center on January 30 will serve at the Alumni Day. The match against Edinboro will be both Military Appreciation and Youth Day.
The Green and Gold will honor its seniors in the final home dual against Clarion (Feb. 13). The Patriots will travel to Central Michigan (Feb. 15) and Gardner Webb (Feb. 19) to wrap up the dual match schedule.
The Patriots Last Chance Open is scheduled for Feb. 22.
The MAC Championships will be held at Alumni Arena in Buffalo, NY, March 6-7.
The NCAA Championships are slated for Mar. 19-21 in Cleveland, Ohio at Rocket Arena.
