FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's tennis team hosted four teams this weekend in the Mason Women's Fall Invitational Tournament.
Mason opened the weekend with a hard-fought 3-4 battle against Howard on Saturday morning. Sophomore
Maya Bayat earned a dominant singles win against Dana Hall, 6-1, 6-1.
Brooklyn Siegel won her singles match against Lauren Oliver, 6-4, 6-2.
The Patriots earned a 7-0 win against the Coppin State Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Junior
Cenan Liu clinched the win by beating Brandy Babcock, 6-3, 7-6, (7-2), in her singles match. Senior
Maitree Diksha Rout earned a 6-3, 6-4 win against Sirena Singh. Bayat earned another dominant singles win by defeating Kyla Proctor, 6-0, 6-0.
Shivaani Ganesh secured her first win of the tournament by defeating Moriah Johnson, 6-3, 6-1, in singles action. Junior
Noelle Talarek gained a 6-4, 6-3 win against Sapphire Ferguson. Junior
Lakshya Motam defeated Abigail Perue, 6-0, 6-4, in her singles match. Junior
Mary Young paired up with Liu to earn a dominant 6-1 win against Coppin State's Johnson and Singh.
The Green and Gold completed the tournament on Sunday afternoon with a 3-4 team score against Delaware State. Liu defeated Catherine Goldman 6-1 in the first set before Goldman retired from the match. Bayat earned a 6-3, 6-1 singles win over Alba Benedito, while Talarek battled for a 6-4, 6-4 win over Hannah Watkins.
