ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The George Mason University men's tennis team opened its 2025 spring schedule with a 6-1 setback at Navy Saturday morning.
The Patriots' point came courtesy of junior
Ekansh Kumar, who put together an outstanding effort at No. 1 singles. He took down Jake Young in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
At No. 2, junior
Monil Lotlikar took his match to three sets. He won his first frame, 6-3, then dropped the second, 4-6. Herrick Legapsi took the super tiebreaker in the third for Navy, 10-7.
Junior
Zavan Fahim also took his match to three sets against Navy's Tommy Kim. Fahim won the first frame, 7-6, taking the tiebreaker, 7-5. After dropping the second set, Fahim fell 10-6 in the super tiebreaker.
The Patriots return to action next Saturday with a 6:45 p.m. contest at Mary Washington.
