FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team opens its 2025 spring season with a dual match at Navy on Saturday morning.

The Patriots are coming off a solid fall season which included 30 singles victories and a 17-13 (.567) combined doubles mark.
 
Senior Niza Simunyola played well in both singles and doubles in the fall while tallying a 4-2 mark in singles and 6-2 record in doubles alongside junior Monil Lotlikar. That duo dazzled at the A-10 Masters in October, taking down the league's top tandem from VCU, 8-7 (7-5).
 
Junior Ekansh Kumar also won a match at the A-10 Masters in singles while knocking off Fordham's Will Lokier in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Kumar finished the fall with a team-best seven singles wins in 10 chances.
 
GM's other newcomer, freshman Shari Saeed, also played well in the fall while putting together a 5-3 singles mark.
 
In addition to Simunyola & Lotlikar's excellent fall doubles play, senior Dustin Ha and sophomore Rayan El khalifi also clicked as a unit while compiling a 5-2 record.
 
In the spring, the Patriots also will be joined by Denison transfer Milan Gonela, who is originally from Columbus, Ohio.
 
After Saturday's match, George Mason returns to action next Saturday (February 1) with a match at Mary Washington (6:45 p.m.).
