PITTSBURGH, Pa. – George Mason junior
Tate Anderson won three individual events to lead the Patriots' men's team past Cleveland State, while the women's team fell to Duquesne and Cleveland State on Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The Patriots men's team took the top spot in nine events and defeated the Vikings, 148-113. The women's team fell to the Dukes, 210.5-70.2 and the Vikings, 157-124.
On the men's side, Anderson won the 50-yard freestyle (20.49), 100-yard freestyle (44.68) and 200-yard freestyle (1:36.73).
Junior
Aoun Al-Hiari won both the 200-yard butterfly (1:51.48) and 100-yard butterfly (49.11). Sophomore
Ian Rodgers took the top spot in both the 100-yard backstroke (49.17) and 200-yard backstroke (1:47.65).
In the 200-yard breaststroke, senior
Tyler Lentine touched the wall first (2:03.10). Sophomore
Alex Crown placed first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:39.03) and was second in the 400-yard IM (4:03.51).
Sophomore
Cody Scifres was second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.33) and third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:48.28).
The Patriots won both relay events. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the group of graduate student
Kyle Johnson, senior
Zane Roberts, Anderson and Rodgers took the top spot (1:21.77). The team of Rodgers, Lentine, Al-Hiari and Roberts won the 200-yard medley relay (1:30.39).
On the women's side, senior
Ali Tyler won the 100-yard freestyle (51.67). In the 200-yard butterfly, graduate student
Abigail Murtaugh placed second (2:04.46).
Senior
Emma DeJong took third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.94) and placed fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (52.63).
In the 200-yard freestyle, senior
Sydney Atkins finished third (1:54.89) and sophomore
Kristen Ivey was fourth (1:55.11). Ivey also placed fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:09.14).
Senior
Peyton Brehmer finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.14). In the 400-yard IM, sophomore
Casey Tingen was fourth (4:34.87) and junior
Gracie Sweeney fifth (4:45.58).
In the 200-yard medley relay, senior
Shannon Judge, Tyler, DeJong and Brehmer combined to place third (1:45.12). The team of sophomore
Hannah Magdeburg, Tyler, Brehmer and Judge finished second (1:35.75).
The Patriots conclude the home portion of their schedule when the host Towson on Saturday, Jan. 25 with the meet scheduled to begin at noon at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
