Track and Field Complete First Meet of the 2025 Season

Fairfax, Va.- George Mason completed their first meet of the season competing in the VCU Rams Invitational. 
 
To kick off the 2025 season, Kennedy Drish showcased her talent in the pole vault. Kennedy made her debut with the Green and Gold a memorable one by finishing first in her event and placing 5th in the George Mason all-time list by going over 3.90m. Nick DeWolfe, another newcomer, was full of confidence and also achieved a first-place finish in the pole vault going over 4.70m. 
 
Kenzie Dillman lapped most of her competitors in the 3000m run fishing in first with a time of 9:44.65. Her new time was enough to enter the all-time list at 8th taking over Kate O'Neill's time from last year. 
 
Olamide Enajekpo achieves a new personal best in the shot put with a mark of 14.33m. Her new best has moved her up the rankings in the all-time list, placing her in 7th all time. 
 
Albert Asare was the individual champion in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.11, only 0.01 second away from his personal best from last year. Shania Staats made her collegiate debut and she has proven to be the best in the long jump at the VCU Invitational. Shania was the individual champion in the long jump, going over a distance of 5.72m. Arsalan Yaqubi claims first once again in the men's weight throw with a mark of 18.65m. Adam Beaudry was right behind finishing in second for the weight throw (15.82m). 
 
Alex Lombardo earned a first-place finish in the 800m and Kailynn Tyson also claimed the first spot in the triple jump. Kailynn has come a lonf way since last year and has proven to have grown with a mark of 12.14m at the VCU Invitational. 
 
Ella Semple, the lead runner for George Mason during the cross country season, achieved second in the mile with a time of 4:58.98. Luke Brown also finished in second in the mile with a time of 4:17.27. Ellie Desmond made an immediate impact for the track team finishing second in the 1000m run. Ay'rianna Moore have also proven to be another name to remember this season and for the upcoming seasons. The freshman won her heat in the 200m and finished 4th overall with a time of 24.89. Ay'rianna was also the anchor for the 4x400m relay, making a comeback to help George Mason win their heat.

George Mason will be traveling to University Park, Pennsylvania to compete in the Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge on January 18th
